About Us – President’s Message

About Us – President’s Message

A Message From the 106th JLC President Mikaya Knight

Hi There!

On behalf of the Junior League of Chattanooga (JLC), welcome to our League!

My name is Mikaya Knight, and I am honored to serve as President of JLC in our 106th year. Through our website, I hope you will learn more about us and all that makes Junior League of Chattanooga unique and essential to our Chattanooga community.

Since 1917, Junior League of Chattanooga members have impacted our community through volunteer action and civic leadership. JLC is full of women who are passionate about our community. JLC has a mission and significant history of serving the Chattanooga community through forming partnerships, developing programs, and raising funds for various community initiatives, including family and children services, people with disabilities, public health, community arts, food deserts, and our current community initiative, A League of Learners. A League of Learners supports Hamilton County schools, teachers, children, and adults through funding for special projects and partnerships with other local organizations to provide an active volunteer base.

As new community needs have arisen through the years, Junior League of Chattanooga members have sprung into action. Serving our community at the forefront, and collaborating with community partners for effective change, Junior League of Chattanooga members have enhanced their tangible and intangible leadership skills developed by their years of service in JLC. As it has since 1917, Junior League of Chattanooga programming and training has a uniquely significant and widespread impact in Chattanooga.

We invite you to join our essential work in the Chattanooga community—whether by becoming a member or supporting our community development through our events this coming year. As Junior League of Chattanooga begins our 106th year, we look forward to all this year has to offer! JLC will continue serving our community partners through our A League of Learners initiative, host our Touch-A-Truck and reintroduce our Tour De Jour event for the Spring of 2024. Chattanooga is our focal point for JLC.

I am humbled and grateful to serve alongside our terrific membership, Executive Board, and community partners, and I look forward to an exciting year!

Yours in service,

Mikaya Knight, President 2023-2024
