About Us – President’s Message

About Us – President’s Message

A Message From the 105th JLC President Callie Burnette

Hello!

On behalf of the Junior League of Chattanooga (JLC), welcome to our League!

My name is Callie Burnette, and I am honored to serve as President of JLC in our 105th year. Through our website, I hope you will learn more about us and all that makes Junior League of Chattanooga unique and essential to our Chattanooga community.

Since 1917, Junior League of Chattanooga members have impacted our community through volunteer action and civic leadership. JLC is an “army of women” within our community, with a mission and significant history of serving the Chattanooga community through forming partnerships, developing programs, and raising funds for various community initiatives, including family and children services, people with disabilities, public health, community arts, food deserts, and our current community initiative, A League of Learners. A League of Learners supports Hamilton County schools, teachers, children, and adults through funding for special projects and partnerships with other local organizations to provide an active volunteer base.

As new community needs have arisen through the years, Junior League of Chattanooga members have sprung into action and adapted, serving our community at the forefront, and collaborating with community partners for effective change. Junior League of Chattanooga members carry both the tangible and intangible leadership skills they develop through their years of service in JLC into service with a multitude of non-profit organizations and boards in our community. As it has since 1917, Junior League of Chattanooga programming and training has a uniquely significant and widespread impact in Chattanooga.

We invite you to join our essential work in the Chattanooga community—whether by becoming a member or supporting our programming. As Junior League of Chattanooga begins our 105th year, we look forward to all this year has to offer! JLC will continue serving our community partners through our A League of Learners initiative, host our Touch-A-Truck and League on the Links community fundraisers, and facilitate important Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging, and Leadership training for our membership.

I am humbled and grateful to serve alongside our terrific membership, Executive Board, and community partners, and I look forward to an exciting year!

Yours in service,

Callie Burnette

President, 2022-2023
