The JLC's Healthy Starts initiative
In the fall of 2006, the JLC selected children's health as the signature issue to which the League will devote funds and volunteer hours for the next five years.

Healthy Starts Partnership: Eat Smart
Eat Smart is a partnership with the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Health Department. It is part of Step ONE, which envisions a culture where residents practice good nutrition and exercise regularly.

Healthy Starts Partnership: Baby Basics
Baby Basics is a partnership with READ Chattanooga, Inc.

Healthy Starts Partnership: Care Mobile
The Junior League's partnership with T.C. Thompson Children's Hospital and Ronald McDonald House Charities brings the Care Mobile and Smartmoovz programs to local schools.

Mini Grants
This program provides mini grants to public school teachers of elementary, middle or high school in the Hamilton County School area. Grants of up to $750 are awarded to fund a creative teaching project.

Eating Disorder Awareness
The Eating Disorder Awareness Program, a curriculum-based puppet program, offers children in public and private school systems and civic groups an increased awareness of eating disorders. By proactive measures, this program educates young people, builds self-esteem, and hopes to prevent the development of future eating disorders in children.

Advocacy and Public Affairs
The function of the Advocacy and Public Affairs committee is to recommend how the Junior League of Chattanooga can serve as an advocate on the issues deemed priorities by the membership and to develop a program for such advocacy on local and/or state and national levels.

JLC and PlayCore Partner to Build a Neighborhood Playground
The Junior League of Chattanooga (JLC) and PlayCore are pleased to announce the selection of Highland Park’s Shaw Park as one of three recipients for PlayCore’s 2007 Employee Build Program.
