The Junior League of Chattanooga is proud to announce our new cookbook fundraiser!  The JLC has decided to add a second cookbook to our collection to follow Dinner on the Diner, which was released in 1982.  The new cookbook is set to release in spring of 2011 and is expected to raise of $200,000 from the initial printing of 12,500 books.  The proceeds will directly fund our community projects.

The JLC is extremely excited about this project, and with all of your support – recipe submittal, cooking, tasting and testing – we are certain to produce a new, rich, and flavorful Junior League of Chattanooga cookbook.

Bananas Foster French Toast

# of Servings: 4-6 

French Toast

         Ingredients for French Toast

         1) 1/4 Cup(s) all-purpose flour

         2) 1 Cup(s) milk

         3) 1 Pinch(es) kosher salt

         4) 3 Large eggs

         5) 1/2 Teaspoon(s) cinnamon

         6) 1 Teaspoon(s) vanilla extract

         7) 1 Tablespoon(s) white sugar

         8) 12 Slice(s) challah bread

         Directions for French Toast

· Measure flour into a large mixing bowl.  Slowly whisk in milk.  Whisk in salt, eggs, cinnamon, vanilla and sugar until smooth.

· Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium heat.

· Dunk bread slices in mixture until saturated.  Cook bread on each side until golden brown.  Keep warm in an oven until topping is ready to serve.

Bananas Foster Sauce

         Ingredients for Bananas Foster Sauce

         1) 1 Cup(s) brown sugar, firmly packed

         2) 1/2 Stick(s) unsalted butter

         3) 1/3 Cup(s) water

         4) 1 Tablespoon(s) vanilla extract

         5) 3 Large ripe bananas, sliced

         Directions for Bananas Foster Sauce

· Mix first four ingredients well in a saucepan over medium-high heat. 

· When butter is melted and sugar is dissolved, add banana slices and stir for another 1-2 minutes. 

· Pour sauce over French toast and serve immediately.
